These drawings are made with black graphite pencil on polyester drafting film, also referred to as “frosted mylar,” a sturdy, stable polyester sheet which should last several centuries under normal conditions. Frosted mylar provides a translucent, non-absorbent, smooth surface and is used by many contemporary artists, including Jasper Johns, who remarks that ¨it is difficult to tell from the finished drawing what gestures were used to produce it.”
